1. I've been sick.
2. I've been bored. (Boredom does not produce interesting reads.)
3. I've been busy.
All of the above. I'm bored because this weather isn't living up to it's promises and everything that I want to do is contained OUTSIDE. I even put out a few flowers, and now I'm afraid they're going to freeze. I want to take pictures but I'm sick and can't stay out in the wind and cold for very long, lest I get sicker. And I'm busy, which is great, but it's even greater when busy translates into dollars, and that's not the case.
Yesterday, I participated in the Chicago Community Trust's annual "On the Table" event, where people get together to discuss ways to improve their community. It's a great event, and perfect for someone like me who has tons of ideas and loves to talk. Check it out here: http://www.onthetable.com/about/the-chicago-community-trust/ This is my second time being involved. We exchanged some very sound and doable ideas that now require action. For my part, I'm on it, organizing a community garage sale and even more exciting, a Free Store so that people in my community can get some of the things they need (and want) for free. Just like that.
I have two pop-up possibilities, and I'm limited only by the aforementioned lack of funds. Oh, and time! A couple of upcoming road trips are setting me back, but I need the R&R so I'm making myself do it. I'll have even less time when I return so I'll be even more stressed. Life's kinda like that, isn't it?
Meanwhile, I got through prom weekend, chaperoning and all. It went smoothly, and they looked amazing!
I call this the "money shot". They belong in a fashion magazine. I'm biased, of course. |
I decided today to take each task one at a time. I was well on my way to completing a big one and ran out of ink. Ugh! So I went on to the next, which involved listing several items on several sites. I have decided that I will no longer ship breakable items, since the last three times I shipped (priority, insured and carefully packed) the items arrived damaged. I would much rather have my customers open merchandise that arrives in perfect condition than to get the claim dollars. Really, it's not the same. Ugh again!
I hear bubbling from the kitchen which means that my potatoes are boiling, and I should pay attention. I just wanted to check in. I promise to write again soon.
